April 2009

C. Stinson Mundy, Associate Attorney at Moran Reeves & Conn PC, coaches the St. Catherine's Model Judiciary Team, which competes in a statewide competition run by the Virginia Bar Association. This competition consists of a mock trial, and then an appellate round in front of the Court of Appeals of Virginia. The Court decides on which students should move forward and present the appeal to the Supreme Court of Virginia. The St. Catherine's Model Judiciary Team was selected to present to the Supreme Court of Virginia, where justices found in their favor. At Moran Reeves & Conn PC, we are pleased to congratulate Ms. Mundy and the very talented team of students at St. Catherine's.

Moran Reeves & Conn PC congratulates five of our fellow employees on a great showing in the Monument Avenue 10(k) held on Saturday, March 28. Moran Reeves & Conn PC was well represented by C. Stinson Mundy, Michelle Andino, Ashley Driscoll and Ray Berti.

Food FrenzyMoran Reeves & Conn PC is once again this year a proud registered participant in the 3rd Annual Statewide Legal Food Frenzy benefiting the Central Virginia Foodbank and the Federation of Virginia Food Banks. This food drive will take place March 30 through April 10 2009. In last year's event, legal organizations throughout Virginia provided 1.3 million pounds of food to help this worthy cause. With more than half of this food going to the children and the elderly, Moran Reeves & Conn PC is proud to play a part in local hunger relief efforts.

Moran Reeves & Conn PC is pleased to announce the arrival of our newest associate, Matthew Hundley. Matt received his B.A. in 2004 from Radford University and received his J. D. from the University of Richmond School of Law in 2008. Matt will focus his practice at MRC in the areas of Product Liability Defense and Commercial Litigation.

From September 16-18, 2008, Kenneth J. Moran attended the bi-annual International Tire and Exhibition Conference (ITEC) meeting for tire and rubber manufacturers and their suppliers in Akron, Ohio. Ken gave an address entitled "Recent Trends in Discovery Against Tire Companies" which can be found in the Moran Reeves & Conn PC articles section.

Congratulations to Moran Reeves & Conn PC's relay team who competed on June 29 at the "I Love the Tavern Triathlon" in Richmond, Virginia. March, 2007

Dewayne Lonas, recently received a defense verdict on behalf of CNH America LLC and Old Dominion Tractor and Equipment Company, Inc. in a $10 million products liability action.  The lawsuit involved a former Virginia Power employee who claimed that he was pitched out of a loader backhoe by an improperly designed door and an improperly manufactured component part which resulted in a neck injury which left him totally disabled.  The complaint also asserted various warranty claims, all of which were dismissed on summary judgment prior to trial.  Following a four day trial, the jury deliberated briefly and then returned a verdict in favor of defendants on all remaining claims.
